As a former baseball player, we were taught to always "warm up" before playing a game. For example, do your streaching annd calensthetics. Then do a set of drills such as Fielding, Batting, Relays etc,. The question: Should we warm up befoer playing the game of Checkers, and if so, what and how sholud we do it?

But seriously, this is a great question.
I personally use cards - not the playing cards but the cards you will find in the Collections section.
Each card has eight diagrams, normally black to move and win.
Kaplan used them to warm up the kids - give each student a different card to solve, give a helping hand time to time, then make a review.
I use them to stay sharp, solve a few before going to bed, or use them to activate your brain cells before the tournament - just do not overdo this, stay fresh.
